The 2.5i Outback is powered by a 170hp, 2.5 liter - 4 cylinder Subaru Boxer engine that delivers smooth reliable performance.  A 3.6 liter - 6 cylinder Subaru Boxer engine is also available that delivers 256hp, for those who want a little more power on tap.  The 2.5i is equipped with a Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) which can adjust the transmission to match your acceleration needs.  This can save you gas and help to reduce your carbon footprint.

The Subaru Outback is built at Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. in Lafayette.  SIA is the first automotive manufacturing plan to achieve zero landfill status in the U.S. The plant recycles 99.9% of everything it uses. The average human being sends more trash to a landfill in a day, then the plant does in a year! In addition to the evironmental story at SIA, it became the first manufacturing plant to be designated as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. There are 800+acres that serve as a home for a wide variety of animals.
